i’m lovin’ it

August 16: ” Yesterday there was a huge queue, i thought it was an Independence day celebration… it wasn’t, wondered if it is because they partially opened the fun republic mall. Finally got to know it was just that people stood there to get the McDonald’s experience…! Anything New will have a QUEUE in Coimbatore !!! Ask KFC !! “. I wrote this on my face book as my status  and found 96 of them liking it and lot of them commenting about it from U.S to U.K to India. I just took a pause , jogged through my memory lane only to remember that Apple always does it right, when it comes to its launch…!

I was just going though my face book today only to see people who live in Coimbatore are just uploading pictures with Ronald McDonald the primary clown mascot of the McDonald. It looks like Ronald McDonald is the second one after Santa who brings the smile known around the world since 1963. I have actually posted one of the ( among the many) pictures recently posted on face book and i choose this picture because the envious comment posted by some one below the picture.I have posted the comment of Sundeep Parakulangara,” People who love to sit with artificial clown , who cant even make you laugh“. I never knew Ronald McDonald can make boys this envious..lol.

Now here in coimbatore, even those who don’t stop for the traffic signals stop or slow down seeing “The Golden Arches” which resembles the M for McDonald’s. I seriously feel hungry the moment i see this logo which was introduced in 1968.

Brand Mcdonald’s is the worlds largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants is feeding 68 million customers daily across 119 countries since 1940 with their revenues in 2011 accounts to US$ 27.006 billion and they have a strong 420,000 employees (2011).From a humble barbecue restaurant by the McDonald brothers to becoming the worlds largest chain McDonalad’s, Ray Kroc played a vital role. 2012 Brand MacDonald’s is considered to be one of the top 5 Most Valuable Global Brands.
McDonald’s India came up with its first restrurant in 1996, they took their steps slowly and carefully, they have also brought in India spcific menu’s and now will invest Rs 500 crore in the next three years in the southern and western regions of the country in an expansion that would see its footprint cross 250 restaurants.

Brand McDonald’s is focused on energy conservation, sustainable packaging, and waste management. The Brand is dedicated to innovation and improving our operations in order to build an even more sustainable, environmentally friendly, and profitable business. The Brand continues to reoptimize the menu, modernize the customer experience, and broaden accessibility to the brand, in turn consumers will always enjoy the maximum McDonald’s experience.

Business Model: McDonald’s Corporation earns revenue as an investor in properties, a franchiser of restaurants, and an operator of restaurants. Approximately 15% of McDonald’s restaurants are owned and operated by McDonald’s Corporation directly. The remainder are operated by others through a variety of franchise agreements and joint ventures. The McDonald’s Corporation’s business model is slightly different from that of most other fast-food chains. In addition to ordinary franchise fees and marketing fees, which are calculated as a percentage of sales, McDonald’s may also collect rent, which may also be calculated on the basis of sales. As a condition of many franchise agreements, which vary by contract, age, country, and location, the Corporation may own or lease the properties on which McDonald’s franchises are located. In most, if not all cases, the franchisee does not own the location of its restaurants.

Brand McDonald’s 5 P’s are Products, Price, Place, Promotion and People. Consistency and Excelling consumer expectations seems to be the brands vital pillars..! McDonald’s as of now is surely a show stopper in Coimbatore too.

It will always be a “SHOW STOPPER”. Its also known for its hygiene factor, More over it has set a big example in recruitment industry. I was having a talk with my client where he gave me an example of Mc D’s work flow. According to him, An recruitment industry must have a work culture, pattern and process as Mc D which is very professional and well organized from whats been expected till its delivery…!!!!

Iconic logos have simple, yet magical qualities of evoking an emotional response in you, for instance when you look at the golden arches of McDonalds you feel happy and hungry at the same time. Ever thought why this happens? It’s the colors, which do the trick. Yellow arches make you smile while the red McDonald’s background makes you feel hungry. It’s unbelievably true that the color red makes your blood pressure soar and also makes you feel hungry.

Here I go with my view: I hear a lot of common statements these days…Where do we hangout this weekend??? Where do you want treat from??? For all such questions I tend to hear a particular name these days… why not Mc Donald!! People are ready to spend so much of amount in foodies these days…McDonald is one place in Coimbatore you see over packed customers waiting for the table to get empty. I witnessed the same day before yesterday…I should say 🙂
Well of course as the whole article says yes it’s the Brand 🙂 People hear a lot about this from others ( we say word of mouth )…and people who have not known will surely go sneak peek to see what the whole thing is about…And after all McDonald is a global brand…The question of quality of the service and product is already understood from the whole name because if it wasn’t that great…it wouldn’t have been globally known …thinks the normal customer. So why not try new??? People are ready to spend and try the new global market products…As Coimbatore have low options to hangout the generation new will tend to try the new era 😉 The mall culture is in the phase of growing and we can see that there are enough and ample opportunity to target the youths out there coz of their strategic location. But sure the hype of McDonalds will fade once something else comes up… I think 

Honestly I am not a McD fan… I have liked KFC better than McD always. So anything i comment would in no way help this blog. Howsoever I believe that McD is a good place to go out with families, friends, even for couples 😉 (except for the scary clown man roaming around in the restaurant, which i am phobic to… It really scares few people if u actually notice 🙁 )

Nevertheless McDonalds has won hearts all over the world… I don’t see a reason as to why it would fail in coimbatore… Ofcourse not to forget as i hear it, it already is a huge success in Coimbatore… Good Job McD,..

To my view: the brand first comes to known by me through ads in television…at that time I thought how the people are eating ….and I just experienced that with my brother and I was not interested to eat at first time. But after that I was attracted towards it and I like to eat whenever I move out with my brother and friends. first of all the brand name impressed and the Mc D clown and the taste . Which made me to move over again again….in to the restaurant…
