0Engage Social Media
What was I doing before Social media came into existence, maybe I used the virtual mode purely for communicating or for searching. In India, even today the connectivity is not great but has improved far from what it was ten years ago. Browsing during that time was like buying things from a ration shop.
We need to go to the browsing centres, make friends with the owner of the shop and play musical chairs to get your cabin and pray for the connectivity, inspite of the fact that internet explorer keeps getting refreshed. For sure Indian’s are trained towards the art of waiting. Right from the milk that you need to procure from a milk vendor, the darshan you get in a temple, to get a simple haircut in a barber shop to watching a movie to browsing, Indians have the patience to wait…! We always loved the theory of queuing; Kerala mastered and practices religiously the queuing theory even today.
We are now witnessing the broad band boom, internet getting bigger and bigger and the way social Media’s influence our lives on a day to day basis is breath-taking. In turn we have lost the patience to an extent we can’t wait few seconds even the computer to switch on. We have turned into an instant generation.
